The Shield plays out in one of the roughest districts of Los Angeles. Vic Mackey is a likeable guy and a successful cop. But he is also a dirty cop. He and his fiercely loyal crew operate outside the law, whether they are keeping the peace or lining their own pockets. Police Captain David Aceveda is an overachiever who is bent on bringing down the rogue cops. But it's not clear whether it's for the right reasons or just to fuel his own political ambitions. Working out of the "Barn," the nickname for their makeshift squad house, this one-hour drama follows police officers, detectives and Strike Team members as they face the on-going struggle for control of not only the streets, but also the precinct itself.
